An der HfG Karlsruhe werden keine Bachelor-/Master-Studiengänge angeboten. Dies würde dem Grundverständnis der HfG widersprechen: Freiraum für die Entwicklung theoretischer und praktischer Fertigkeiten und Fähigkeiten zu bieten und „Schule der Selbständigkeit“ zu sein. Hier herrscht die akademische Freiheit nicht-modularisierter Studiengänge.

Der Abschluss in den Praxisstudiengängen der Kunst- und Design-Fachbereiche bleibt das Diplom. Es entspricht einem international anerkannten Masterabschluss. Das Studium im Fachbereich Kunstwissenschaft kommt seinem Aufbau nach dem Magisterstudiengang an den wissenschaftlichen Hochschulen gleich und umfasst auch ein Postgraduiertenstudium mit der Möglichkeit zur Promotion (Dr.phil.).

Diplom, Magister, Promotion – die Abschlüsse an der Staatlichen Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe werden heute und in Zukunft international anerkannt, die volle Bologna-Kompatibilität ist gewährleistet. Die Chancen unserer Absolventen auf dem Arbeitsmarkt bleiben nach wie vor sehr gut. Auch unsere Partnerhochschulen in aller Welt sind von der Qualität der Ausbildung an der HfG Karlsruhe überzeugt, denn: Pluralistische Offenheit ist und bleibt die Basis des Lernens und Lehrens an der Hochschule für Gestaltung Karlsruhe.

Graduate and Post-Graduate Awards at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design

The Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design purposely does not offer Bachelor or Master programs. The rigid structure of these programs would go against the University´s code: free reign for the development of theoretical and technical skills and abilities and the formation of independent thinkers. Maximum academic freedom achieved by a non-modular degree program.

Artistic degree students from the media art and design departments will continue to graduate with a "Diplom" award, the equivalent of a Master´s degree. Students in the Department of Art Research and Media Theory graduate with the similarly ranked qualification of Magister, after which they have the possibility to continue on to a Ph.D.

The degrees awarded at the Karlsruhe University for Arts and Design – the Diplom, Magister, and the Ph. D – are compatible with the European Union´s Bologna program and will be continue to be internationally recognized. Our graduates continue to stand out in the marketplace and our wide network of exchange schools speaks for itself: our pluralistic educational platform is and remains a basis for an outstanding quality of scholarship and the key to successful student and teacher practices at the Karlsruhe University of Arts and Design.
